How did you get into baking?

As far as I can remember cooking has always been something I loved. I was raised by my grandfather for a while and he cooked like every day was Thanksgiving! He also cooked for the whole damn neighborhood, it seemed. In the mid-80s and 90s in Crown Heights Brooklyn, he tried to make sure there were more plates of food in the streets than crack vials. I’m talking fried chicken, mac & cheese, collard greens, yams and corn bread! Not to mention the staples of baking: chocolate cake, coconut pineapple cake, banana pudding, apple cobbler and peach cobbler! All of it! Being around that at a young age, you could say it rubbed off on me. Maybe juuuust a tiny bit.
